It was all looking so promising… Amazon finally giving hope to those of us less than enamoured with Apple’s walled-garden iTunes ecosystem. Amazon recently announced it’s Cloud Drive and associated Cloud Player. The idea is excellent: cheap cloud storage that you can upload your (legally obtained, right?) MP3 collection, and stream them to a web player or an app on your Andoid phone.
Even better, the Cloud Drive is integrated with Amazon MP3, which means that your MP3 purchases are automatically added to your cloud drive, allowing you to stream them, or download them again at a later date in the event that your PC has issues. You can even purchase and listen to your new MP3s from a single Android app.

So here’s the ill-fated intevals I was complainign about in my last post. Two seperate sessions below, the first the indoor intervals, the second the outdoor cooldown once I’d decided the gym was simply too humid to actually train in. But first, the playlist:

I decided this week to start a new feature on the website: FAIL of the day. This prestigious award will be given to any entity that has righteously ticked me off by poor customer service, or simply poor service. I had my first FAIL lined up and had started to write it, but my training today has convinced me to postpone my original, and award my inaugural FAIL of the day to Total Fitness Walkden. Join me after the break to find out why.
Lots of runs to update on – been a bit busy since I got back from a rather enjoyable trip to visit my sister in the alps – more on that in the near future. Had a bit of a bad chest when I got back, so only really started getting back on top og things just over a week ago. However, had some good runs since then, culminating in my first over-20k week in a couple of years!
I’ve also signed up to run for teh Alzheimer’s Society again thsi year. You’ll see a widget on the left which tells you my fundraising progess and allows you to donate, but again, more on that in an update soon. Until then, the gory details of what I’ve been listening to and how I’ve been running are after the break!

So two runs to tell you about this week, one on Wednesday and one on Saturday. Both outdoors, one atad over 6k, one at 7k. One today was particularly good, I felt strong at 7k and felt like I could have gone on had I not needed to get back to work.
Next week I won’t be running, a bit of cross-training is planned. Specifically: snowboarding! A bit of fun is sorely due given the torrid time everyone is having at work. But more on that another time: playlists and telemetry after the break!

Garmin Connect data:
So I’ve had yet another rough week, with lack of sleep thanks to wee Daisy and stuff on my mind, coupled with a 24 hour bug which left me completely flat. Nonetheless I got my backside out and running, because at the end of the day, excuses get you precisely nowhere.
I can sit there and give good excuses as towhy I didn;t go out running, but at the end of the day, when the Great Manchester Run comes round, I’ll either have trained enough for a sub 60 minute 10k, or I won’t have. There’s really very little else to it. SO I struggled round 5.5k on Friday, and it was far harder than I’d have hoped, but the important thing is I did it.
There was an interesting article in a recent Runner’s World magazine which discussed when you can call yourself a runner. The conclusion was that every time you tear yourself off the couch, put on a pair of trainers and go running, you’re a runner. I guess getting out there and training even when you feel less than optimal is probably part of it too.
Oh, and reading Runner’s World for training tips is also probably a hint…
Anyway, the important stuff: the telemetry!
Track listing:
Echoes – Klaxons
Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies – Biffy Clyro
Just Because – Jane’s Addiction
I Still Remember – Bloc Party
A Praise Chorus – Jimmy Eat World
Not In Love (Feat. Robert Smith) – Crystal Castles
The Prayer – Bloc Party
When I Argue I See Shapes – Idlewild
The Beat That My Heart Skipped – Dan le Sac VS Scroobius Pip
My Hero – Foo Fighters
Garmin Connect Telemetry:
I promised I keep updating my blog, and I thoroughly intend to, but in fairness to myself, this week hasn’t been ideal. I’ve still done 3 sessions since my last update, and I will post details shortly, but it has beeen somewhat challenging. Firstly, I’ve had some very disturbed nights, as Daisy has been ill. Secondly, I’ve had a bit of a cold myself, which hasn’t helped, and thirdly, I had to give my usual Friday run a miss as I did myself a bit of damage on Wednesday and had a touch of the shinsplints. Fortunately they calmed down enough for me to get out on the road and do 7k today. Not the 8k I was hoping for, but given the circumstances better than nothing.
But by far the most challenging bit of my week has been the current situation at work. In order to avoid saying anything that I shouldn’t, I will simply point you to a press release Renovo put out recently. Enough said.
Nevertheless, I’ve still put in some training, so I shall link to them below. For those still interested, the track list for today is after the break:
